The "Brother" in Brother Bluebird comes from the fact that we are twin brothers who have always had a bond of the deepest friendship. The "Bluebird" is a story of redemption. The bluebird is a delicate, finicky specie that requires a specific type of habitat and is sensitive to environmental changes. During the period of American industrialization and expansion, the bluebird rapidly lost much of its native habitat and suffered major declines throughout its range. Hope for the bluebird came with the emergence of the environmental and conservation movements of the 60s, 70s, and beyond. Birders and families started building bluebird boxes and placing them out in their yards and meadows, hoping for the beautiful creature's return. The plan worked. Their numbers rebounded, and now their playful calls can be heard all across their original range. Once again, this is a story of redemption. Things can get better, both in the natural world and in our own lives.
We write folk/indie/Americana music. Influences include the Avett Brothers, Fleet Foxes, Bright Eyes, and Sufjan Stevens
We both have careers, but music has always been in our hearts and always will be. We don't know what the future will bring, but we will keep growing and playing our songs wherever people are listening.
